Itahari, November 12:

Seven people were hurt when armed cadres of the Young Communist League (YCL) attacked them at Bhulkechowk of Itahari-2 on Saturday night. The YCL cadres attacked the civilians after a dispute ensued over eve-teasing.

Eight houses were damages in the attack.

A group of 25 YCL cadres, including Amit KC and Dhan Bahadur Rai, of Siwalaya Chowk, was involved in the attack.

Civilians Bhim Kumar Pradhan, Sanam Shrestha, Laxmi Adhikari, Bal Bahadur Shrestha, Kishor Pradhan, Kul Bahadur Magar and Chhoti Maya Magar were injured. YCL cadres attacked the civilians after a dispute ensued between youths of Bhulkechowk and Siwalaya Chowk over eve-teasing during Laxmi Pooja, locals said.

Demanding action against those involved in the attack and compensation for the victims, locals filed an application at the Itahari APO yesterday. YCL Itahari coordinator Bhabindra Acharya admitted that YCL cadres were involved in the attack.
