Seven hurt as jeep turns turtle in Baitadi
BAITADI: As many as seven persons were injured when a jeep carrying 12 passengers skidded off the road and plunged 30 metres onto a field in Dhasharathchand Municipality-9 of Baitadi district on Tuesday night.
The injured have been identified as Prakash Bhandari (21), Kalawati Chand (36) and Kamalesh Mahatar (15) of Pancheshwar Rural Municipality-5; Shree Krishna Bhandari (83) and Naresh Bhatta (16) of Pancheshwar-6; Bhagirathi Chand (65) and Sher Chand (35) of Melauli Municipality-5.
The jeep (Se 1 Ja 567) heading towards Giregada from Dehimanda skidded on a slippery trail and fell below the road injuring seven passengers at Parsakhola, at 8:30 pm yesterday, according to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Heramba Sharma at the District Police Office, Baitadi. The road had turned muddy following an incessant rainfall yesterday, he said.
All the injured are receiving treatment at the District Hospital Baitadi while one of them was discharged this morning, said police.
