KANCHANPUR: A person has drowned in a canal in Bhimdatta Municipality in Kanchapur district this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Chhatra Bahadur Rana (60) of Bhimdatta Municipality-12.

Locals had informed police after they saw the body of Rana floating on the water of canal of Mahakali Irrigation Project. The body has been sent to Mahakali Zonal Hospital for the postmortem.

Police suspect that Rana might have died after falling into the canal.
