Sharma’s death condoled

Kathmandu, July 29:

The meeting of parliament was called off today after passing a condolence motion on the demise of Nepali Congress (NC) member of parliament Dilli Raj Sharma. Hundreds of party workers, parliamentarians and ministers, including Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, paid their last respects to the departed soul at the cremation ground in Aryaghat.

Sharma, 61, had arrived in Lamjung last evening on the last leg of his latest assignment of filing a report on the country’s prisons.

NC, other political parties and Speaker of parliament Subas Nembang expressed shock and disbelief at his demise.

PM Koirala and other leaders from various political parties were present at the cremation ground.

Sharma was elected to the House from Parbat constituency number 2 during the last parliamentary polls.

Earlier, Sharma’s body was kept at the NC headquarters in Sanepa as a mark of respect to Sharma.
