KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 18

A Sherpa climber died while returning from the summit of Mt Ama Dablam, last night.

According to Seven Summit Treks Chairperson Mingma Sherpa, Chairperson, Mingma Wangdi Sherpa from Makalu breathed his last during his descent. He attempted to scale Ama Dablam by himself.

As he was a member of the rope fixing team, Mingma Wangdi had not climbed the peak with other team members yesterday, the SST chair said, adding that the deceased climber tried to reach the summit alone while the other members made a retreat.

He was an experiendced climber with multiple summit records including on Mt Everest.
