KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 28
Sherpa siblings Fura Tshering and Ngima Tashi successfully summited Yasa Thak Peak (6,141m) at 5:30 PM on November 27.
According to Tashi Lakpa Sherpa, CEO of 14 Peaks Expedition, this marks the first official ascent of Yasa Thak Peak by the Sherpa brothers. The peak, one of the untouched summits in the Thamichhowa region, was recently opened for climbing by Nepal's Department of Tourism.
Residents of Samde, Khumbu Pasanglhamu Rural Municipliay-05, Sherpa brothers began their expedition on November 26.
Based on a recommendation from the Department of Tourism, the Council of Ministers approved the opening of 57 additional mountains for climbing on October 7.
This decision aligns with the tourism development strategies outlined for the fiscal year 2024/25.
