Sherpas flay use of force

KATHMANDU:

The Sherpa Association of Nepal on Wednesday expressed serious concern about the use of force to control the peaceful demonstration of the Tibetan refugees. Issuing a press statement, the Association on Wednesday condemned “the inhumane activities against the peace-loving Buddhists, including use of lathis and misbehaving with them”. “We would like to request the Nepal government to end such practices immediately,” the statement issued by its general secretary Nima Tendup Sherpa said. They have requested the government to treat Bhutanese and Tibetan refugees equally. — HNS
