Shortage of medicines hits Dhading locals

DHADING: The blockade of key roads due to the ongoing protest in Tarai has resulted in medicine crisis at  hospitals and health centres of Dhading district, of late.

According to Chief of the District Public Office, Jeevan Kumar Malla, patients are finding it difficult to get medical facilities at the health centres and hospitals due to fuel shortage.

Malla further said, apart from the acute shortage of emergency medicines, patients with long-term illnesses and those affected due to chilling cold are also having difficulty to get proper medical services.

It is noted that Nepal imports over 60 percent medicines from India and locally made drugs also get most of the raw materials and packaging from India.

Locals in the district who were severely affected due to April 25 earthquake now are facing another crisis of medicine shortage including other daily consumer goods.
