Shortage of petroleum products hits Dhading
Dhading, September 28
Prolonged Tarai bandh and the agitators’ blockade of border points have led to acute shortage of petroleum products in Dhading.
Dhading bazaar has been reeling under the dearth of diesel, petrol and cooking gas for the past one week.
As many as 13 gas industries (refill centres) are in operation from Majhitar of Prithvi highway to Khanikhola of Tribhuvan
Highway. Residents in the district, however, have been coping with crunch of petroleum products. Gas traders said that gas distribution had halted after the supply of gas stopped. Gas industries have been wearing a deserted look after petroleum products were obstructed at the border points. The scarcity of LPG gas has given a hard time to consumers.
Locals in the district have asked the government to take serious steps as people across the country are facing shortage of petroleum products and LPG gas. Dhading CDO Basudev Ghimire said the DAO was conscious not to allow traders to create artificial scarcity during times of crisis.
With supply halted, depots and centres established to sell petroleum products have pulled down their shutters in the district.
Rajan Adhikary, the local retailer of Baba Gas said that he could not sell gas as the stock was too less against the massive crowd looking for gas.
