Shreeram Sugar Mills to clear dues to farmers

Shreeram Sugar Mills of Garuda, Rautahat has finally agreed to clear its dues to sugarcane farmers. The mill owes around Rs 900 million to sugarcane farmers.
A written agreement was signed between the owner of the mill, Diwakal Golchha, and Sugarcane Production Association Chairperson Ashok Prasad Yadav in the presence of Industry Minister Somnath Pande at the Ministry of Industry on Thursday.
According to Yadav, the mill will pay Rs 360 million in the first phase by mid-February and the rest by mid-April next year. “After our repeated calls fell on deaf ears, we approached the ministry for our money,” said Yadav.
Constituent Assembly members Dr Banshidhar Mishra, Ram Kumar Bhattarai, Jitendera Yadav, Ram Ayodhya Yadav and Amaresh Kumar Singh among others from Rautahat, Bara and Sarlahi were also present when the agreement was signed.
Golcha pledged to pay the sugarcane farmers as per the agreement.
