KATHMANDU, MAY 28

The top management of Shuvatara School in Lamatar, Lalitpur, has decided to shut down the school citing deep financial crisis triggered by the COVID pandemic.

The school management informed all its students, guardians, teachers, and well-wishers that the school would be closed at least for the next two academic sessions.

Founder Director and Chairperson of Shuvatara School Rani Gurung Kakshapti said that they had to take the harsh decision owing to the financial loss the school had to bear due to the pandemic. She also said that school was in no position to pay the salaries of teachers and administrative staffers, and bear other operational costs of the school. "With less than 40 per cent of the total 365 parents paying regular fees and 20 per cent of students studying free of cost under scholarship scheme, the school had to bear huge financial loss last year and this year too there was no possibility of running the school in fullfledge," Kakshapti said.

Meanwhile, Shuvatara School has signed a memorandum of understanding with New Millennium School to accommodate its students and teachers as per the capacity and requirement, informed Kakshapti in her email sent to students' parents today.
