Singh bats for consensus govt

Pokhara, October 10

Nepal Communist Party Masal General Secretary Mohan Bikram Singh today suggested to the political parties to form a consensus government led by CPN-UML.

Speaking at a press conference here today, the NCPM leader said that the gentlemen’s agreement between the major parties had facilitated the constitution writing process.

“As the country is in crisis, the major parties should form a consensus government under UML’s leadership in line with the past agreement,” he argued, adding that such a coalition led by UML will be for the good of the country.

On a different note, he termed former UCPN-M leader Baburam Bhattarai’s decision to quit the party a wrong move. “He has taken a wrong move by quitting the party at such a critical juncture,” he said, adding, “Moreover, his recent activities are against national interests.”
