SIRAHA, MAY 19
As many as four ventilators acquired by the Siraha Hospital are yet to come into operation due to the lack of required skilled manpower to operate them.
Despite having procured the ventilators, the hospital is compelled to refer severe Covid patients elsewhere for further treatment due to aforementioned reasons.
According to Medical Superintendent at the hospital, Dr Nagendra Yadav, they had requested concerned authorities to manage required manpower so that the ventilators could be put to use to treat critical patients, but to no avail.
However, the Chief District Officer Pradip Raj Kandel refuted the information saying that all the ventilators are in use for the treatment of the patients in the hospital.
He claimed that some of the ventilators are in use and things have been blown out of proportion. "The issue surfaced after some staffers fell unwell for a couple of days, but the ventilators are well in use," he stressed.
The hospital is equipped with 15 HDU beds, five ICUs, four ventilators to treat patients from across the district. The hospital also has its own oxygen plant and can furnish 96 samples test report in 8 hours with its PCR test lab.
