Six die of diarrhoea

Gorkha, May 13:

Three persons have so far died in a diarrhoeal epidemic that broke out in Gorkha’s Lapu VDC last week.

The deceased are Gita Gurung (31), Ambir Gurung and a youth of Gumda Thulogaun.

More than 30 people in Wards No 5,7,8 and 9 of the VDC have been suffering from the disease.

According to Dr Anil Shrestha at Gorkha District Hospital, no medical team had been sent to the affected areas, as the team headed by medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Gunaraj Lohani, had not returned from Gumda area, which was affected by influenza recently.

Meanwhile, three persons have died of diarrhoea that broke out in two VDCs in Jajarkot district last week. According to District Police Office Jajarkot, the deceased have been identified as Bhau Singh (65) and Mamata BK (5) of Sagla VDC and Dharmi Nepali (48) of Rokayagaun VDC.

Chief of District Health Office Dr Krishnahari Subedi said an additional team with supply of medicine has been sent to the affected area.
