Six held on charge of dacoity, explosion in Siraha

LAHAN: Police on Wednesday paraded six persons who were arrested for their alleged involvement in dacoity at three houses of Mirchaiya of Siraha district.

Dacoits had struck at three houses in Mirchaiya Municipality-7 in the wee hours of May 14 and looted properties worth more than Rs 1 million.

The gang of eight to ten men had exploded bombs before looting the houses of Rajaram Yadav, Rameshwar Yadav and Mira Pokharel, according to the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya.

Police today paraded Rukum Paswan from Netraganj-2 of Sarlahi, Binaya Kumar Paswan from Thado Jhijhai-1 of Dhanusha, Nanda Kishor Paswan from Harion-2 of Sarlahi, Ram Sharan Raupal from Ladkanaha Karjanaha-1 of Siraha, Birendra Paswan of Karjanaha-1 and Sangita Paswan of Karjanaha-1.

The 55-year-old Rukum is said to be the mastermind behind the crime, according to police.

Police confiscated various weapons including axe and lathi, a handbag, a laptop and mobile sets from them .

SP Shyam Gyawali of the Siraha District Police Office said at the press conference that a joint team of Kathmandu-based Central Investigation Bureau, an investigation team from the Biratnagar-based East Regional Police Office, the District Police Office and the Mirchaiya Area Police Office had carried out the investigation.

Police suspected that some more persons were also involved in the dacoity and they might have left the nation for India in a bid to escape.

Therefore, coordination has been made also with the Indian Police, Gyawali informed.

Further investigation is underway.
