KATHMANDU, JUNE 21

Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chair Rabi Lamichhane has said the party will not engage in "politics of vengeance" and will work on the basis of its popular mandate.

Addressing the inaugural session of the party's first national general convention here today, Lamichhane said the RSP would avoid political retaliation and instead focus on ending hostility among political parties in the interest of the country and citizens.

He also said the party would not allow factionalism or internal divisions, expressing commitment to project unity through the general convention. "If we can move forward without factions by learning from the experiences of older parties, no force can defeat us," he said.

Lamichhane said the RSP should develop as a common political platform attracting people from outside traditional politics, adding that many individuals from non-political backgrounds were already joining the party.

He also urged major parties, including Nepali Congress and CPN (UML), to resolve their internal problems, saying improvement in national politics required reforms across all parties.

"The problems seen in Congress and UML must be addressed. If they are not resolved, the country will face difficulties," he said.

On government formation, Lamichhane said the process was moving ahead as per earlier political understanding, adding that responsibility now lay with senior leader Balen Shah to deliver.
