KATHMANDU, JANUARY 14

While talks about constitutional amendments are underway, Madhes-centric political parties have agreed to aggressively advance Madhesh issues. On Tuesday, leaders from six different parties met to prepare for this.

The meeting, which had an agenda of determining the framework, objectives, and common agenda for the formation of the front, made no concrete decisions. However, the leaders stated that they had reached an agreement to hold serious discussions within their respective parties before announcing the alliance.

Leaders who felt there was a need for further discussions within their parties stated that the long-standing lack of dialogue had ended. "This meeting served as an icebreaker. We will hold another meeting after serious discussions within our parties," Rastriya Mukti Party leader Keshav Jha told THT.

The meeting of the working group formed by Madhes-centric parties also agreed to continue their dialogue.

"All parties appeared to agree on ending the situation of lack of dialogue," Jha stated. "The meeting to be held now will prepare the necessary concept for collaboration."

Janamat Party spokesperson Sharad Yadav stated that a meeting at the Samarpan Academy in Dhumbarahi decided to continue the front. He stated that the issue of Madhes will be pursued vigorously, including constitutional amendment.

Yadav stated, "There was a general discussion on issues, including the discussion of constitutional amendments and the ordinance introduced by the government bypassing the Parliament."

The meeting established a framework, objectives, and common agenda for forming the front. After the government proposed amending the constitution, Madhes-centric parties attempted to unite and form a front

The Jana Pragatisheel Party, led by Hridayesh Tripathi, coordinated the meeting. Tripathi has been stressful to bring Madhesh-centric parties together for the past few months. Throughout the process, he has interacted with leaders from various parties at various levels.

Leaders from Janamat, Janata Samajwadi Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party-Nepal, Rashtriya Mukti Party, Jana Pragatisheel, Tarai Madhesh Loktantrik Party, and other parties, as well as independent legislator Ameresh Kumar Singh, attended the meeting. However, the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, led by Upendra Yadav, did not attend the meeting.

Renu Yadav and Istiak Rai have been given responsibility by the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), Rajkishore Yadav by the Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal, Jitendra Sonal and Surendra Jha by the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party-Nepal, Abdul Khan, Sharad Yadav by the Janamat Party, Shivaji Yadav by the Jana Pragatisheel Party, Keshav Jha by the Rastriya Mukti Party, and Brikhesh Chan by the Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party to bridge the dialogue gap.
