SLC exam centres limited to district headquarters

Like last year, this year the SLC exam centres are concentrated in the district headquarters due to insecurity. The SLC examination begin Monday.
According to a report from Dhankuta, over 80,000 examinees from 16 districts in the eastern region are taking SLC examination.
According to the eastern region education directorate of Dhankuta, there are 268 examination centres in the region. Deputy director Damodar Dahal said from 14 districts altogether 81,832 examinees will be sitting for the examination. This number includes 57,335 regular and 24,400 exempt ones. According to Dahal, Bhojpur, Morang, Sankhuwasabha, Sunsari, Dhankuta, Terhathum, Ilam, Jhapa, Taplejung and Panchthar have 15, 36, 8, 32, 11, 7, 17, 40, 9 and 13 examination centres, respectively. Khotang, Udayapur, Saptari, Siraha, Solukhumbu and Okhaldhunga have 17, 12, 15, 17, 10 and 9 centres, respectively.
A report from Pokhara said there is a total of 72,037 examinees in the western development region. Of these, 57,600 are regular while 14,429 are exempt. Western region education directorate deputy director Indra Prasad Dhakal said the arrangement for 187 centres for regular and 49 centres for exempted candidates has been made.
Two Himali districts, Manang and Mustang, each have one centre while Rupandehi has the maximum number of centres: 20 for regular examinees and five for exempt ones. Mustang has the lowest number of examinees, 73. Rupandehi has highest number, 9,488.
The Kaski district education office has 18 centres for regular examiness and two for exempt ones. According to our Dipayal correspondent, the number of SLC hopefuls from nine districts
in the far western development region has increased by 35.11 per cent. According to the far western regional education directorate, this year the number of examinees is 23,543.
This year, most of the examination centres have been in district headquarters and vicinity areas due to security reasons. Bajura, Doti, Bajhang, Kailali, Darchula, Baitadi, Dadeldhura, Kanchanpur districts have 4, 10, 4, 3, 20, 5, 7 and 4 examination centres, respectively. Last year, the region had only 67 examination centres.
Deputy inspector general of police of the far western regional police office Dipayal, Ramesh Kumar Shrestha said a dependable security arrangement is made for the SLC examination in all the districts in the region.
