SLC examinee accuses principal of apathy

Bara, January 2:

A 10th grader at the Dewapur-based Nepal Rastriya Secondary School, Subesh Kumar Paswan, has accused the headmaster of the school, Ram Sandesh Yadav, of trying to deprive him of his right to sit for the SLC examinations by ‘tampering’ with his registration form.

Paswan, who belongs to a Dalit community, said: “I won’t be able to sit for the SLC examinations because principal Yadav did not send my registration form to the District Education Office (DEO).

Stating that the principal had sent the registration forms of 21 students to the DEO, Paswan said: “I had duly filled in the registration form. Principal Yadav must have tampered with it.” However, principal Yadav could not be contacted.

Paswan has filed a complaint on the matter at the Bara District Administration Office (DAO). Administrative Officer of the DAO, Harihar Dahal, said: “The DAO has written to the DEO to probe into the case and take necessary action.”

The school has sent us vouchers of all 22 students, but has sent registration forms of 21 students, a source at the DEO said, adding: “The registration form belonging to Paswan is missing.”

The District Education Office is making arrangements so that Paswan could sit for the SLC examinations.

“The stress has affected my studies,” Paswan said.
