SLC examinees, scribe injured in explosion

Narayangadh, April 3:
At least two SLC examinees and a local journalist were injured when improvised explosive devices planted by the Maoists went off at different places.
Sunita Thapa and Shanta Baniya fell unconscious when a bomb went off in Bharatpur municipality of Chitwan district this morning, Chitwan District Police Office SP Surendra Bahadur Shah said.
Thapa and Baniya were going towards the examination centre based at Sunrise Boarding School when they were caught in the explosion.
The two students, however, gained consciousness after some time and later attended the examination, Shaymji Atithi, the district education officer (DEO), said.
A report said a group Maoists have abducted an examination superintendent from Pyuthan district.
The Maoists abducted Begam Bahadur KC, superintendent of SLC examination based at Khalanga, the Pyuthan district headquarters from his own house yesterday.
In another incident an IED went off just before a police vehicle carrying SLC answer sheets towards an SLC centre at Laxmi Secondary School, crossed it. No casualties or damage has been reported.
Ramesh Pokhrel, a reporter of Butwal Today, a local daily, was injured when the Maoists detonated bomb on the road, report from Rupandehi said.
Meanwhile, a group of suspected Maoists detonated bomb at an SLC examination centre based in district headquarters Ghorahi last night.
Five rooms of the examination centre at the Dipendra Police Boarding School were damaged in the blast, Bishwaraj Singh, SP of district police office, Dang, said.
Property worth more than Rs 1.6 million was destroyed in the incident, SP Singh added.
However, no human causality was reported in the incident, according to SP Singh.
The students of the school were quite terrified after the incident.
