Snowfall closes schools in Sankhuwasabha district

Sankhuwasabha, January 9:

Schools in northern parts of the district have been shut down due to excessive snowfall.

Over 2,000 students in more than three dozen of schools based in Chepuwa, Hatiya, Kimathanka and Pawakhola of Bhotkhola area have been deprived of taking classes because of snowfall, locals said. “We were forced to close the school as students could not come to the school due to cold weather,” said Lathar Bhote, headmaster of Himshikhar Primary School in Hatiya VDC. He also said the schools would reopen after the snowfall stops.

“Long winter vacation will be adjusted by running classes in summer and during school holidays to compensate for the loss,” Kinsan Bhote, headmaster of Arunodaya Secondary School at Chepuwa said.

The incessant snowfall, which has affected normal lives in high mountainous areas of the northern part, has continued for two weeks.
