Snowfall, rainfall hit Far-West life hard
DIPAYAL: Freezing cold triggered by rainfall and snowfall has hit the life of people in highlands of different districts in the Far-Western Development Region hard.
The snowfall which began from Wednesday night has adversely affected life by obstructing movement of people.
Similarly, classes at schools have also been halted due to the excessive cold.
Places in and around the Khaptad National Park including Buglek, Gairigaun, Kadamandau and Toleni have witnessed the snowfall.
Roads have been obstructed in the in Jhingrana and Bichpani of Khaptad National Park.
Snowfall in highland settlement has also blocked rural roads, said SP Dilli Raj Bista.
Due to the snowfall, animals reached nearby human settlements putting themselves at the risk, said Khaptad Midland Area Development Committee Vice-chairman Ram Prasad Upadhyaya.
Due to the snowfall, roads have also been obstructed in Mauwa Mellek, Bogtan and Gadsera of Dipayal in Doti.
There is also snowfall in Gaura and Hagulte of Bhimdatta Highway, informed Doti District Police Office chief Bista.
According to police, traffic movement has been brought back to operation after clearing the frozen snow on the roads.
Transportation along the Anarkholi road section in Baitadi district has also been disrupted due to snowfall and dozens of vehicles have been struck halfway.
According to locals, snowfall has been recorded in Bajhang district from early morning today. Similarly, Tinkar of Darchula is also lashed with snowfall.
Meanwhile, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts of the Tarai region witnessed rainfall today.
