Solukhumbu journalist attacked "by UML cadres"

KATHMANDU: A Solukhumbu-based journalist was reportedly thrashed by some cadres of the ruling CPN-UML in the district headquarters Salleri on Friday afternoon.

Reporters' Club Nepal Province Number One Chairman and Nepal Press Union District Member Bhanubhakta Niraula was reportedly attacked by the UML cadres in front of the District Administration Office at around 2 pm today.

Niraula was station manager at the local Himal FM.

The Reporters' Club has claimed that he was attacked for broadcasting a news report about activities of local Peace Committee via his radio.

Meanwhile, issuing separate statements today, the Reporters' Club Nepal, Nepal Press Union and the Nepali Congress central office condemned the incident.

They demanded that the culprits be brought to book after a fair investigation.
