Sophisticated weapons seized

ROLPA: Police recovered modern weapons from Rolpa’s Gam VDC on Wednesday. One M-16 rifle, three 303 rifles and their bullets-were recovered from a cowshed in Garjabadak village.

Body of local Tek Bir Budha, who was killed by an unidentified gang yesterday, was recovered near the cowshed. After gunfires were heard yesterday morning, a police team had reached the village in a helicopter.

According to eyewitnesses, three masked persons had murdered Budha. Police suspect Budha to have been killed by Mongolian Revenge Group (MRG), an armed group active in the village.

Budha was shot at 7 am on Wednesday in Khalabangharja on his way home from a jungle. “The gang, then, dragged him into the jungle and shot him again,” a villager preferring anonymity said. Budha’s body has been taken to district headquarters for post-mortem. Police said the weapons were seized during their raid on Pyuthan’s Syaulibang Police Post some four months back. A 303 rifle and a shot gun are yet to be recovered. The police have kept vigil of the village. The M16 weapon was supplied by an army quisling, Sete Pun, two-and-a-half years ago. He was arrested from Baglung last month.
