KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli blasted Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota for not tabling the Millennium Challenge Corporation deal in the House of Representatives.
Addressing a party workers' programme here on Friday, Oli said the speaker did not have the power to hold MCC deal in the House. "The speaker has acted beyond his brief," Oli said. He added that the ruling coalition partners were not speaking against the speaker because they wanted to maintain the current coalition at any cost.
He also took a swipe on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN-MC Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal for writing a letter to MCC on September 29, arguing that it was against the protocol for the prime minister to write a letter to a department of another country's ministry. Oli wondered why other chiefs of ruling parties did not cosign the letter jointly written by Deuba and Dahal. - HNS
