Special Court slaps jail terms on govt officials

Kathmandu, February 15:

The Special Court today slapped a two-year jail term on Gopal Prasad Dhungel, an officer of the Transportation Management Office in Janakpur, one–year jail terms on non-gazetted officers Narayan Lal Karna, Kedar Palanchoke, and Bharat Chaudhary, convicting them in corruption cases. The Court also ordered a fine of Rs 2.9 million on each of them. Hari Kishworlal Karna, Narayan Lal Karna and a businessman Tulsi Ram Pandey were also handed over jail terms of eight months. The CIAA had filed two corruption cases charging them of importing vehicles illegally.
