Bhojpur, January 2

Health authorities have been engaged in working out a special plan after kala-azar patients were detected in Bhojpur district.

Two locals were recently diagnosed with the disease at Arun Rural Municipality. Since then, special attention for patients along with proper treatment regime is being planned.

Chief at the Health Unit Office, Bhojpur Binod Mishra, said BP Koirala Institute of Health and Science organised a programme yesterday regarding the role the local level could play to prevent the disease. The institute has started informing about the disease after it was detected in a male and a female of Champe.

Symptoms of kala-azar were seen in persons in the fiscal 2017-18.

The disease is transmitted from gnats and can be completely cured if diagnosed in time.
