Staffers padlock Ghodaghodi FM

Dhangadhi, August 17:

Staffers of Ghodaghodi FM, the first FM of Far-western region, padlocked their office today after the management gave pink slips to 17 of their collegues yesterday.

Protesting staffers, including journalists, are demanding that the management of the FM station be transferred to the community as it is being operated by the Backwards Education Society (BASE) through foreign donation. The FM staffers had, a few days ago, staged an agitation to press the FM management to provide salary for their two years’ service.

The management has, in the retirement letter, stated that the staffers had been given pink slips, as the radio transformer had stopped functioning and it would take time to repair it.
