RAUTAHAT, AUGUST 17

Doctors and staffers at a government hospital in Rautahat have caused loss to the government by availing the allowance meant for risk over COVID without work, it is learnt.

If the report of the auditor general is anything to go by, staffers and doctors at Chandrapur Hospital had received COVID risk allowance without work, and the report, therefore, has recommended that those who had received the allowance fraudulently reimburse it.

As learnt, 19 doctors and health workers at Chandrapur Hospital had received 3.645 million rupees in COVID risk allowance, citing their work overtime.

Of those who had been on the take, the contract of doctors Jahur Rain, Devshankar Paswan and Dharmendra Patel had expired.

The report has also asked them to reimburse the allowance amount.

As per the report, the doctors and staffers who had unduly benefited had fraudulently presented fake details of working in three additional shifts. The auditor general's office has raised question over the payment citing lack of evidence to vouch for the overtime. Chandrapur Municipality Mayor Sanjaya Kafle has said the process of getting the persons concerned to reimburse the allowance amount has begun.
