Statute must be amended, says Jha
Rajbiraj, December 12
Nepal Sadvawana Party chairperson Anil Jha has stressed the need for amending 102 provisions of the constitution to make it fully inclusive.
Speaking at a press meet at the party office in Rajbiraj today, Jha said they are not for re-writing the constitution. “We don’t want the statue to be re-written to make it inclusive as it is a matter of words, phrases, sentences and brackets at some 102 places in the statute. Once this is done, the constitution will be fully inclusive,” said Jha.
Further, Jha also scoffed at the claims made by coalition partners about the statute. “The constitution is in no way perfect. However, it could be made perfect if they address the nine-point demand of the agitating Madhesi parties,” he said.
Expressing his dissatisfaction over the present demarcation of provincial boundaries, Jha said two separate provinces should be formed in the Tarai. “The present demarcation of provinces is a complete injustice to Madhes. There should be only two provinces in the plains — one from Jhapa to Narayani River and the other from the Narayani River to Kanchanpur,” he argued.
