Nepali Congress (NC) president Girija Prasad Koirala, addressing a meeting of village-level NC workers at Urlabari today, said the agitation had been launched to stop the King from assuming an active role.

“The NC has seen the rules of four different kings,” he said, adding: “Since even the King has failed to rule the country, reinstatement of the House of Representatives is the only right option to overcome the political crisis.” He said the elections cannot be held at a time when the guns are calling the shots. How can the elections be held under the protection of RNA men when they cannot open the blocked highways even in weeks, he quipped.
