POKHARA: Drivers in Pokhara have taken to agitation in protest of the new penal code. Citing the provision that allows ‘random detention of drivers’ in the code, they held a demonstration in Prithvichowk on Thursday.

No public vehicle plied in the city and even long route buses stayed off the roads. “As per the penal code, we have to face serious action even for something that happens due to an error. This is in no way conducive for us to operate vehicles,” said a driver.

As per district administration, no untoward incident occurred in the course of the agitation.
