Stop threatening people, Poudel tells Maoists

Lamjung, April 3:

Peace and Reconstruction Minister Ram Chandra Poudel today urged the Maoists to stop threatening and terrifying people.

Addressing a gathering organised by the Nepali Congress of Lamjung constituency number-4 unit in Sotipasal, he said: “Now, the Maoists should not threaten people. They should change their behaviour.”

Poudel, also the general secretary of the Nepali Congress, said: “The Maoists have joined the newly-formed interim government. Let us commence the processes of unity and reconciliation for the formation of a new Nepal.”

“I am in politics to make people the master,” he said, expressing his commitment to fight for people’s rights.

Addressing the programme, Nepali Congress central member Dil Bahadur Gharti suggested the Maoists to help run development projects, which they had halted citing several reasons, during the insurgency.

The programme was chaired by Lamjung constituency number-4 coordinator Badri Nath Koirala.
