Durga Bhanjyang Battalion has helped three siblings of Himali Rural Municipality, Bajura, who were left in a lurch after The Himalayan Times published a news story about the plight of the children.

The battalion reached out to the helpless children and distributed food materials, clothes, stationery, utensils, and cash, among other materials.

Rice, sugar, cooking oil, and salt were given to the children. According to Nepali Army, the NA team reached the house of the children with relief materials after this daily's report covered the plight of the children.

After the news story was published in THT, Arjun Nath helped with Rs 5,000, Hari Gharti Magar with Rs 22,302, and Mina Thapa gave Rs 4,000 to the helpless children. Similarly, Sano Paila helped the siblings with Rs 10,000 and Chhali Khanal from America helped with Rs 12,125.

Budinanda Rural Municipality acting Chief Administrative Officer Ram Datta Neupane said some clothes, utensils, and stationery, among other items were bought and the remaining amount was deposited in the account of Rastriya Banijaya Bank, Kolti.

Hari Ghatri Magar said that small help was offered to the helpless children after the news story was published in THT. He said that he felt pain when he looked at the children.

Of the three children, the eldest Dolma Thapa said there were helping hands for poor and helpless people like them. She thanked all the helping hands for the support. The three children have been living inside a hut on the banks of the Karnali River after the death of their parents. They were spending bone biting cold nights along the Karnali Corridor.

Dolma said their father Lok had died nine years ago and their mother Kalima had died two years ago. She added that her parents died due to lack of treatment expenses.

Dolma Thapa, 16, Dorjee, 13 and Samjhana, 10, have become helpless after the death of their parents.
