Students take umbrage to Maoists’ move

BIRGUNJ: Students of different private and institutional schools protested on Friday against manhandling from the cadres of the UCPN (Maoists) to the teachers and students of Miniland Secondary School for defying bandh.

The Students of Miniland, Gyanjyoti, Mount Edmund, Gautam, Manokamana, Kanchhanjunga schools organised a rally from the local Ghanta Chowk and went through major chowks of the town. The Maoists had violated the agreement among the parties to declare schools as strike free zones.

Meanwhile, government schools remained closed in Parsa district on Friday due to the strike called by Nepal Teachers’ Union. Teaching learning activities of around four hundred government and community schools halted due to the bandh. The Union has been protesting to pressurise the government to implement the agreement reached between them.
