SURKHET, JUNE 22

Sudurpaschim Province has started reporting more COVID-19 cases lately.

In the past 24 hours, the province reported five positive cases.

According to Health Directorate, Dipayal, a total of 293 sample tests were conducted at the border points yesterday. In the past one week, 11 people have been diagnosed with the virus. However, the casualty from the virus since mid-February is nil.

Health workers at Gauriphanta entry point Dammar Khati said the rising infection cases in neighbouring India had posed a risk to the province as well. He said, more preventive measures were required along the Nepal-India border points to control infections. Among those infected with the virus, majority are India returnees, he said.

According to him, those who have returned from India left for their destinations before the test results came out. Yesterday, 516 entered the province through several border points.
