KATHMANDU, JULY 2
The Sudurpaschim Province Assembly on Wednesday unanimously approved the provincial government's annual budget of Rs 33.47 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2025/26.
The budget, initially presented on June 15, was endorsed during today's assembly meeting after Minister for Economic Affairs Bahadur Singh Thapa tabled the proposal for its implementation.
Minister Thapa emphasized that the government is committed to keeping brokers and middlemen out of the budget process, calling it a key policy focus. While acknowledging limitations due to resource constraints, he expressed confidence that feedback from the assembly discussions would help make the budget more refined, people-centric, and outcome-oriented.
He also presented related appropriation and expenditure bills, which were taken up for discussion during the session.
