Sudurpaschim Province govt to hike salaries of local reps

The government in Sudurpashchim Province is preparing to hike the salaries and perks of government ministers, Provincial Assembly members and local representatives. 

According to sources, two proposals seeking a review of salaries and perks of local representatives and Province Assembly members and government ministers presented by the Office of the Chief Minister have been sent for discussion to the political committee of the Council of Ministers. 

The proposals have sought increase of 18 per cent in the existing salaries and perks, just on par with the federal level. 

Currently, the chief minister, ministers and state ministers receive Rs 60,970, Rs 54,000 and Rs 51,000 respectively.  

Add their monthly stipends and they will get Rs 71,945, Rs 63,720 and Rs 60,180 respectively. Similarly, provincial assembly members will receive some 56,640 rupees monthly. 

Meanwhile, the Provincial Assembly Secretariat has said that it had not received any notice regarding hike in salaries and perks so far.
