INARUWA: Sunsari police on Tuesday impounded an ambulance that was carrying 188 kg of marijuana from Haripur-9 of the district.

According to the Sunsari District Police Office, the ambulance (Ko 1 Cha 5505) of the Thakthakku Mabohang Chemjong Bansha Uthan Sangh was impounded for its alleged involvement in marijuana smuggling.

The ambulance was travelling to the west along the East-West Highway when police intercepted it and found seven sacks of marijuana in their search.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team had chased and searched the vehicle near the Nehru Park of the district.

The DPO informed that they had also arrested a man on board for further investigation.
