KATHMANDU, JUNE 30

The Supreme Court has taken a significant step in the ongoing Lalita Niwas land irregularity case by issuing a show cause order to the government. The order demands the presentation of grounds and reasons justifying the arrest of three individuals involved in the case.

Judge Dr. Kumar Chudal's bench has specifically directed the Ministry of Home Affairs, Police Headquarters, and the Central Investigation Bureau of Police to submit a detailed explanation regarding the basis for the arrests. The show cause order seeks to address concerns raised by Dharma Prasad Gautam, Sudhir Kumar Shah, and Min Bahadur Gurung, who claim to have been unlawfully detained.

The three individuals have approached the Supreme Court, arguing that their arrests violated the law due to the expiration of the time limit, leading to a violation of their fundamental rights. In response to these allegations, the court has taken the step to demand accountability and transparency from the authorities involved.

The show cause order requires the government to provide comprehensive justifications for the arrests, addressing the legality and compliance with established procedures. This order serves as a reminder that the Supreme Court is committed to upholding justice and safeguarding the rights of individuals involved in high-profile cases.
