Kathmandu, January 30:

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala has given assurance that he would fulfill all the demands of the Tarai if the agitating groups in the Tarai participate in the election of the Constituent Assembly scheduled for April 10.

Prime Minister Koirala said so while inaugurating the new Hospital Block of Shahid Gangalal Heart Centre in Bansbari yesterday.

Requesting the media not to do the kind of publicity about his health that was disseminated at the time of his illness, Prime Minister Koirala said he would now work towards holding the Constituent Assembly election as he was fit.

Stating that he was attending the inauguration programme to pay his respects to martyr Gangalal, the PM said education and health were required for the progress of the nation.

The construction cost of the hospital building is estimated at Rs 120 million. The construction works on the building were started in 2006-07.

The first floor of the building houses the administrative unit and laboratory while the second floor houses the male and female wards, cabin and other departments.

The Building has been constructed by employing the earthquake resistant technology. An additional floor can also be constructed. The Centre which until now had been providing services to in-patients from the 80 hospital beds will be able to provide services to 180 patients with the addition of 100 beds.

At the function, Minister for Health and Population Giriraj Mani Pokharel felicitated organisations and individuals for making contribution to the establishment of the revolving fund of the hospital, physical construction and treatment of patients. They were presented with letters of commendation.
