Tarai movement irrelevant: Nidhi
Pokhara, March 21:
General secretary of the Nepali Congress-Democratic (NC-D) Bimalendra Nidhi today said there is no relevance of the Madhes movement because the issues raised by the Madhesi people are included in the amendment to the interim constitution.
Addressing a party activists’ meet here, Nidhi said: “Continuity of the Tarai movement is irrelevant because the issues — the fixing of constituencies on the basis of population and the establishment of a federal ruling system — are included in the amendment.”
The demand for the Home Minister’s resignation is also an “inappropriate issue”, he said, urging all to be prepared for the elections to the CA.
He said the delay in the announcement of the date for the CA polls was caused because of the delay in the formation of the interim government including the Maoists.
“The formation of the interim government is being delayed due to differences between the Maoists and the NC over sharing of ministerial berths.
“The unity of the NC and NC-D is being delayed because top leaders of both the parties are busy preparing for the CA polls and working for the formation of the interim government,” he said. Addressing the same programme, Deputy Speaker Chitra Lekha Yadav said: “People from different races, genders and colours should be included in the democratic system.”
Central member of the NC, Dr Minendra Rijal, said: “People will not feel the change in the nation until the Maoists converge into a political party, leaving aside the thought of a parallel ruling system.”
