Task force to allocate responsibilities
Kathmandu October 25
Nepal Communist Party (NCP) secretariat meeting held at Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar has formed a two-member task force comprising General Secretary Bishnu Poudel and secretariat member Ram Bahadur Thapa to select central committee members for various roles and to choose provincial committees’ members.
The NCP (NCP) has 441 members in its central committee announced on May 17 after unification but the members are still without any responsibility. The two-member task force will allocate responsibilities to 441 members of the central committee, according to party sources.
A task force formed to work on provincial committees has already submitted its report to party secretariat and Poudel and Thapa will select the provincial committee members from those reports. They will submit the report to the next secretariat meeting to finalise the names of members of provincial committees, said NCP (NCP) Standing Committee member Beduram Bhusal.
According to him, the secretariat has devised a procedure which Poudel and Thapa will follow while selecting names. “The standing committee will endorse the names after the secretariat submits the proposal,” Bhusal told THT.
According to sources, Poudel and Thapa will select erstwhile CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre’s office bearers and include senior members in the provincial committees. As per the party statute, the provincial committees will have 151 members and members can be added on the basis of first-past-the-post constituencies in the concerned province.
