Teachers quit job for civic polls
Jhapa, April 4
At least three teachers, including two head teachers, have quit their jobs with the aim of becoming candidates for the upcoming civic polls in Jhapa.
They recently resigned from their posts as the education acts barred teachers from being involved in politics.
The teachers are: head teachers Saraswati Sitaula of Shiva Narayan Primary School at Arjundhara Municipality, Kalindra Singh Rajbanshi of Buddha Foundation School at Gherabari and teacher Lok Bahadur Roka of Janaadarsha High School at Shivasatakshi Municipality.
Sitaula and Rajbanshi will reportedly file their candidacies from the Nepali Congress while Rokaya will file his candidacy from the CPN-UML for the local level polls.
Sitaula will be preparing for the post of mayor in Arjundhara Municipality. Similarly, Roka will file his candidacy for chairman of Shivasatashi Municipality ward no 6 and Rajbanshi will file his candidacy for chairman of Kechankawal Rural Municipality.
Officer Dinesh Acharya of District Education Office said that the resignations of the three teachers had been approved.
