Technical staffers quit job

Dhankuta, May 8

Technical staffers deployed in the villages of eastern Nepal for the survey of reconstruction of quake-ravaged houses have started to resign after the government cut off their facility.

Earlier, the state had announced it would provide 75 per cent allowance of salary for technical staffers before deploying them at the villages.

Chief at National Reconstruction Authority, Dhankuta, Dip Narayan Shah, said 68 engineers, subengineers and assistant engineers had been deployed in Dhankuta, Bhojpur and Sankhuwasabha districts. Of them, seven technical staffers have already handed over their resignation till date.

He said 35 per cent allowance had been offered to the staffers as incentives, 25 per cent for remote areas and 15 per cent as additional facility two years ago.

The staffers bemoaned that they had to spend all day walking from one victim’s house to another in remote areas.
