Ten killed in Tanahun road mishap

TANAHUN: Ten persons were killed and 14 injured when a jeep met with an accident in Shivapur-3, Setang, this evening.

The jeep, headed for Jhaputar from Bhirkot in Tanahun, skidded 150 metres off the graveled road at around 5:50 pm.

According to Ishwori Prasad Chapagain, DSP at the District Police Office, Tanahun, the dead have been identified as Man Bahadur Ale of Byas-10, his wife Tikamaya Ale, Durga Bahadur Ale of Pokharibhanjyang, Dillimaya Rimali of Jamune-1, Karimaya Sinjali of Kahun-3, Kalimaya Gyanimagar of Ghansikuwa-1, Lalumaya Ale of Pokharibhanjyang-1, the daughter-in-law of Buddhiman Ale of Ghansikuwa-1, Yomaya Ale of Byas-2 and Dudi of Pokharibhanjyang-1.

The dead bodies have been kept in the Damauli hospital.

According to the District Police Office, eight of the injured persons are undergoing treatment in the Damauli hospital, while the seriously injured six have been sent to Pokhara for further treatment.

DSP Chapagain said that the jeep had been speeding when the driver lost control. A police team from the DPO was deployed in the area and rescue work was completed within 7:30 pm.
