Tenth Human Rights Magna Meet to kick off from December 8

KATHMANDU: The 10th National Human Rights Magna Meet-2018 will kick off in the capital city as well as all seven provinces from December 8 this year.

The seven-day event is being organised with an objective to contribute towards protection and promotion of human rights, peace and democracy among others, according to the organiser, National Human Rights Commission.

The event will see intense deliberations and dialogues on a range of human rights issues such as peace, security and democracy among others, shared Magna Meet Coordinator, Naren Khatiwada.

Unlike in the past when such events were held in Kathmandu and in some districts, this year the event will be organised in all seven provinces. Around 250 human rights organisations will be participating in the event that will be co-organised by the Youth Advocacy Nepal and coordinated by Fatima Foundation and Pourakhi Nepal.

The International Human Rights Day is observed annually on December 10 to commemorate issuance of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 while the National Magna Meet has been organised in the country since 2009.
