Thakuri’s kin get aid

Mahendranagar, October 2:

The Federation of Nepali Journalists, Kanchanpur, handed over Rs 1.6 lakh to the family of journalist Prakas Thakuri, who has been missing from here since 15 months ago.

The cash was donated by Rorey Peck and was handed by FNJ’s central member Chhatra Saud to the members of Thakuri’s family amid a function. At the function, leaders of political parties and journalists condemned the government for its failure to reveal the whereabouts of Thakuri.

A group of people identifying themselves as Maoists had abducted Thakuri on July 5, 2007, from his rented room in Bhansi of Mahendranagar municipality.

Participants at the programme said that no organisation had bothered about finding out the whereabouts of Thakuri.

Thakuri’s wife Janaki has been running from pillars to the post to find her husband’s whereabouts.
