Tharu army plans to corner govt
PARASI: Tharuhat Struggle Committee, Nawalparasi has started a campaign to form the Tharu Liberation Army.
Ram Bahadur Chaudhari, District deputy Chairman of the Struggle Committee, said, “We have started to form our own army to pressurise the government to implement the agreement reached between the Struggle committee and the government earlier.”
He claimed that more than 2,000 youths had joined their army in Dang and other districts of the western region so far. He said,” We will recruit 100,000 army personnel within the next six months.”
According to the Committee sources, they have a plan to recruit fifty army personnel from each district at the initial phase. Chaudhari said,” Fifty youths have already joined in our army in the district.”
The Struggle Committee informed that those fifty persons would be given different training including arm-operation.
Chaudhari informed that they were organising a national convention of Tharu Liberation Army in Bhairahawa from July 22 to 23.
