KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 19

Nepali Congress leader Shashank Koirala was elected to party's central working committee member securing the highest number of votes.

NP Saud and Bal Krishna Khand polled the second and the third highest votes, respectively.

According to NC central election committee, Koirala polled 3,836 votes, Saud got 2,937 votes, and Khand 2,879 votes.

Among the 35 candidates elected under the open category are Uday Shamsher Rana, Ramhari Khatiwada, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, Ramesh Lekhak, Shankar Bhandari. Jeep Chhiring Lama, Arjun Narsingh KC, Jit Jung Basnet, Gopal Man Shrestha, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Nain Singh Mahar, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Ram Sharan Mahat, Bal Bahadur KC, Govind Bhattarai, Kundan Raj Kafle, Deepak Giri, Surendra Raj Pandey, Padma Narayan Chaudhary, Rajiv Dhungana, Guru Baral, Sanjay Kumar Gautam, Govinda Raj Pokharel, Madan Bahadur Amatya, Ajay Babu Siwakoti, Ganesh Lama, Dinesh Koirala, Umesh Jung Rayamajhi, Mohan Acharya, Gopal Dahit, and Krishna Kishor Ghimire.

A total of 4,705 general convention representatives had cast votes, of which 181 were declared invalid.
